Real Talent: Miss Virginia

Last Night, was the Miss America Paegent Competition.Caressa Cameron aka Miss Virginia won the competition beating out 53 other contestants. She is a 22 Year Old student at Virginia Commonwealth University majoring in broadcast journalism aspiring to become an actor. She won a 50 thousand dollar scholarship along with a host of other prizes (Car, film school etc.). I honestly can't remember the last African-American woman that won Miss America so kudos to her for representing educated black women everywhere.

Real Fab: Tatyana-Ali

Little Ashley Banks from Fresh Prince is all grown up. She is no longer the naive, cute bright-eyed girl we all knew, but a Harvard Graduate on her grown and sexy status. She can now be seen on the new TV One sitcom "Love that Girl" (which I heard is decent). She also has a webshow called "Buppies" airing now as well. Check out pictures from her newest photo shoot above. ::RuPual Voice:: You Betta Work!! ::snaps::

Real Random: Rihanna on Oprah

Oprah had a special for the Haiti devastation toady. The show featured Wycelf, Rihanna and a host of others to raise awareness about Haiti's siutation. Rihanna performed Bob Marely's Redemption Song and....well I"m going to let you be the judge. I do applaude her efforts though because at the end of the day what she did was for a good cause. Throughout the whole performance I was just wondering when Lauryn Hill was gonna come out and truly do the song justice. At least Rihanna looked fabulous (but then again when doesn't she) Peep the Video below

Real Thoughts: Haiti

I'm sure everyone has heard of the massive earthquake that hit Haiti yesterday. For those that don't know it was rated a 7.0 on the Richter Scale and caused extensive damage throughout the country. The Picture above shows the earthquake's aftermath on the presidential palace in the capital of Port-Au-Prince. For the past 24 hours, people all over have been tweeting and facebooking about how to make donations and help those in need (see below for details). However, while on twitter someone made a very important statement that many fail to comprehend. When the shock of what happened dies down, people tend to forget all the lives that are affected in natural disasters such as this. In a few weeks when Haiti is no longer breaking news, we have to remember that people are still suffering and help is still needed. The current donations and volunteers are a great beginning to picking up the pieces in this 3rd world country. However, for Haiti to become even remotely close to its standing before the earthquake the world needs to keep Haiti in their thoughts  and prayers far beyond the current aftermath of this devastation.

There are so many website and numbers where donation are being received. Please remember every cent counts. Listed Below are a couple that I have recently discovered.

  • Text "Haiti" to 90999 (American Red Cross) and Donate!!
  • Text "Yele" to 501501 (Wyclef's Yele Foundation) and Donate every dollar counts
  • Also go to http://yele.org to make donations via credit card
